Seeds & Circuits 0.3.0
0.3.0 is out.
- NewScrap and steel piping for building: drag pipe runs along walls, floors and ceilings, and they join by themselves into bends and tees, with couplings, caps and wall flanges.
- NewGuttering: laid level it is a gutter, upright a downpipe; gutters drain into the downpipes under them and turn corners by themselves.
- NewDucting: square ducts that join up into elbows and tees as you lay them.
- NewWood and plaster trim: a moulding for skirting boards, cornices, rails and sills, laid along any edge where two surfaces meet; two runs meet neatly in a corner.
- NewNew things for dressing up buildings: vents, wooden and scrap signs, posters and an old map, wall hooks, a wall shelf, wooden shutters, cloth and scrap awnings, a window box you can plant flowers in, and a wall clock that shows the time of day.
- NewOutside: a rain barrel, a stove pipe and a chimney pot for roofs, and a washing line.
- NewA doormat, a round rug and a runner rug, and a wooden trapdoor that opens upward over a hole in a floor.
- NewThe old oil rigs out at sea are now built from the same blocks you build with: every part of them, from the rusty legs and stair tower to the helideck and derrick, can be taken apart for its blocks.
- NewCreative mode: a Spoilers toggle in the item picker hides stations (except the Hearth and Workbench), vehicles, blueprint items, data drives and industrial armour, so you can build without seeing what's ahead.
- NewBinoculars: hold the use button to look through them and see far into the distance.
- NewTree saplings: felled trees leave saplings of their kind, and young saplings grow wild near trees. Plant one on open ground and it grows into a full tree over a few days (it rests in winter).
- NewPear, plum and cherry trees grow wild alongside the apple trees, and their saplings can be planted like any other tree.
- NewFruit trees follow the year: they blossom in spring, then their fruit grows and ripens (cherries first, then plums, pears and apples last). Look at a ripe fruit and press Interact to pick it. Fruit nobody picks falls off the tree and lies on the ground for a couple of days, where you can pick it up by walking over it. Every tree bears again the next year.
- NewApples, pears, plums and cherries to eat.
- NewSticks, rocks, flint and shells turn up again a couple of days after they're picked up, and picked plants (hemp, flowers, wild crops, mushrooms, cut-down berry bushes) grow back in their season. Nothing comes back where the ground was dug or built on.
- NewWild plants follow the seasons: wild crops and hemp are young in spring and dead in winter, flowers and mushrooms die back in winter, and they can only be gathered in their season.
- NewCrops die when their season ends (winter, for most): a dead crop gives nothing and is cleared with a hoe. Seeds sown out of season wait in the ground for spring.
- NewBuilding blocks can be dyed: drop a dye onto a stack of blocks and the whole stack takes its colour while keeping its grain and pattern. White and black dye make blocks a shade lighter or darker, up to three steps, so you can have dark wood or pale red brick.
- NewDyes can be mixed: drop one dye onto another to make a new colour, mixed like paint and leaning towards whichever you used more of.
- NewA bucket of water dropped on a dyed stack washes the colour off.
- NewFurniture can be dyed too: tables, chairs, cabinets, beds, chests and the rest take dyes, shades and mixes just like blocks.
- NewMiddle click a building block to pick it: it goes into your hand in the same shape. In creative it's spawned if your hotbar doesn't have it; in survival it has to be in your inventory.
- NewControl hints, key bindings, the guide and loading tips show button icons: mouse buttons and wheel, Shift, Tab, Enter, Space and arrow keys, and PlayStation or Xbox buttons, triggers, sticks and D-pad for whichever controller you use.
- NewHold Alt and left click to put any item down where you look, even ones that can't be placed otherwise (a bucket of water, a jerrycan, a rock). It stays there until you pick it up with Interact; the mouse wheel turns it. Hold Shift too to put down the whole stack, or aim at a stack you put down to add to it; stacks show their count.
- NewCreative mode: Shift-click the trash slot to clear your whole inventory (worn clothes and backpack stay).
- NewPanes and panels fill the empty space next to their ends: a glass pane meets a post standing back from it, a stepped gable wall fills in down to the roof slope, and a wall reaches a wall on the far side of the next block.
- NewEvery building block can now be placed as a pane, not just glass and mesh blocks.
- NewThe free version can sign in with a website account (from the Free version message or Settings ▸ Account) to submit screenshots and share builds; patrons who sign in there get the patron version. Settings ▸ Account also signs you out.
- NewSeveral beams of the same block can share one spot along different edges, for posts and frames meeting at a corner. The hammer takes them one at a time.
- NewChisels (Scrap, Steel and Alloy): carve building blocks into any shape, a small piece at a time or a whole dragged box at once, and shave wedges, rounds and arches thinner or narrower a layer at a time. Right click puts pieces back.
- NewThe Wooden Wagon, Steel and Alloy frames can now be built into vehicles like the Scrap Frame: wheels, seats, engine, fuel tank and moving suspension. The wagon has no engine; animals to pull it are coming.
- NewHeadlamps, horns and side panels snap onto vehicle frames. While driving, right click switches the lights on and off and left click sounds the horn.
- NewCredit chips change themselves up in your inventory: every 100 one-credit chips become a 100 chip, and every 100 of those a 10K chip, so money takes as little room as possible.
- NewCattle pull the Wooden Wagon: put a yoke on its front and hitch two calm grown cattle into it, then drive it like any vehicle.
- NewPush vehicles by hand: walk into a stuck vehicle to push it (it rolls easiest pushed from the front or back; push together with friends).
- NewCargo bed: snaps onto the wagon's bed or behind the Steel frame's cab and holds 12 slots.
- NewThe Steel frame is now a utility pickup: a hood over the engine, fenders over the big wheels, a roll-cage cab and a flat deck for the cargo bed.
- NewVehicle damage: hard crashes and big drops wear a vehicle down. Badly damaged it gets slower, and a wrecked one won't drive. Left click it with its repair material (scrap metal, a steel or alloy ingot, or planks, depending on the frame) to repair it.
- NewDashboard gauges on the Scrap, Steel and Alloy frames: speed, fuel and condition, and a red lamp when the vehicle needs repairing.
- NewParachutes: wear one in place of your backpack, and press Jump while falling fast to drift down safely.
- NewParagliders: a wing worn as your backpack. Jump off anything high, press Jump to open it, and fly where you look.
- NewSteel biplane: build it from a fuselage, wings, an engine and wheels or floats, fuel it up and fly, from land or water.
- NewAlloy monoplane: a fast one-wing plane with its own fuselage, wing, wheels and floats, and an alloy aero engine that also fits the biplane.
- NewThe steel biplane has a passenger seat in a front cockpit.
- NewPlanes get damaged by hard landings and crashes: badly damaged they smoke, wrecked they won't start. Repair them with steel plates or alloy ingots.
- NewA plane with nobody flying it spirals down and crashes, and with its engine off it glides down instead of flying on.
- NewIn first person in a plane, your body and view bank and pitch with the cockpit.
- NewPlane, boat and vehicle parts only show a preview where they fit on the plane, boat or vehicle, not on the ground.
- NewA placed plane drops and settles onto the ground with real physics (no more sinking half into slopes), and it no longer rolls backwards when you get in.
- NewPlanes and their parts no longer flatten the grass where you place them.
- NewPlanes fly where you point them: loops, rolls, and turns that answer the stick at once. Crouch (Ctrl) closes the throttle and Jump gets out.
- NewLet go of the stick and a plane holds its attitude instead of wandering, and the first-person view turns and banks with the cockpit.
- NewPlane crashes stop the plane where it hits: the engine dies and a fast crash explodes and leaves the wreck burning.
- NewSeaplanes left on the water ride the waves and drift.
- NewPlanes without floats sink in water, and their engine stops under water.
- NewRadars in three tiers show land and boats around them on a glowing screen. Put one on your boat to spot islands from far away; better radars see further. Like a real radar, contacts only update as the sweep comes round; land shows its distance, and land nobody has visited yet shows as a ring.
- NewBoat parts snap into place when you aim them at a boat: a cloth sail, a wooden rudder and outboard engines. A radar stands on the cargo platform.
- NewSails catch the wind: raise one and the boat sails, fastest with the wind across it.
- NewOutboard engines in Scrap, Steel and Alloy burn wood, charcoal or coal and drive the boat while the paddler at the stern steers it. Set the power with forward and back and it stays there.
- NewWooden jetties: place one on the water and snap more against its sides to build a pier.
- NewTie your boat up at a jetty with its own rope: it stays put and is safe from rough water.
- NewFar out at sea, away from every island, the water is deeper and the waves are bigger.
- NewNew worlds now and then have a big island out at sea, several kilometres across.
- NewScrap, steel and alloy boats: tougher hulls than the wooden one.
- NewBoat radars are bigger, with larger dots and distances, so the screen can be read from the seat.
- NewOutboard engines no longer cut out when a wave lifts the stern for a moment.
- NewA rudder now turns the boat even when it is slow or still.
- NewSea structures to find with your radar: a sunken fishing boat off the coasts, derelict freighters and old rigs far out at sea, with loot aboard.
- NewRudders in Scrap, Steel and Alloy: bigger blades that steer harder.
- NewCabin boats: drop the anchor from the driver's seat and watch it go down on its chain; climb back aboard by the ladders on the sides; things you place aboard sit on the deck; the windows are glass; getting up from a seat leaves you on deck; the camera no longer gets stuck in the cabin; they're easier to put in the water.
- NewLook straight at a radar up close to zoom in on its screen.
- NewOn a cabin boat the radar sits by the wheel and its scanner turns on the wheelhouse roof.
- NewCabin boats have an anchor: drop it anywhere out on the water and the boat stays put. The helm holds the wheel with both hands.
- NewStorms raise the sea: the waves grow with the wind, most of all out on the open sea.
- NewFar out at sea you can catch tuna, swordfish and grouper.
- NewSharks roam the open sea. They go for swimmers and ram small boats; a cabin boat is too big for them.
- NewIn multiplayer, everyone now sees all the parts on a boat (a second engine sometimes didn't show as attached).
- NewStanding on a moving boat no longer slows it down, and the cabin boat's door is wider.
- NewCabin boats in Scrap, Steel and Alloy: big and slow, with a deck you can walk on, a wheelhouse with a steering wheel and a spot for the radar, and room for two engines. Put your own bed, chests and torches on board and they ride along.
- NewBoat hulls take damage from crashes, running aground fast and rough water out at sea; a damaged boat takes on water, sits lower and slows down. Repair it with its material.
- NewWaypoint flags can be named; the name shows on the compass when you face the flag, and when you look at it.
- NewCompass menu (C): turn other players, your bed, your death bags and each waypoint flag on or off on your compass.
- NewBuild a buggy: place a Scrap Frame, then snap on wheels, seats and a Steam Engine, and drive it with a friend beside you.
- NewThe Steam Engine burns fuel and boils water: pour in a bucket or drive through a river or lake to top it up.
- NewOverturned vehicles can be turned back onto their wheels.
- NewVehicles slide and drift (the handbrake swings the tail out), old wheels give a bumpy ride, and running into animals knocks them down, or kills them at speed.
- NewDriving into deep water floods the steam engine: it stops and has to dry out on land. You can drown while sitting in a vehicle under water.
- NewCombustion engines (small and large) and the combustion outboard run on biodiesel, ethanol, plant oil or fuel canisters: no water needed, and they start at once. Biodiesel pulls hardest; plant oil runs them rough.
- NewScrap Fuel Tank: snaps onto the front of the scrap frame and feeds a combustion engine once its own fuel is gone.
- NewNew vehicle parts in creative mode: wooden and steel wheels, a combustion engine, a fuel tank, a cargo bed, a headlamp, a horn, a cow yoke, and Scrap, Steel and Alloy ploughs, seeders, sprinklers, spreaders, harvesters, drills, feller saws and dozer blades. The best drill is a plasma drill. Wheels already work on vehicles; the rest come to life in later updates.
- NewMore in creative mode: a wooden wagon frame, a steel work frame and an alloy buggy frame, steel and alloy seats, a wagon bench, wooden, steel and alloy body panels, a steel bicycle, a combustion outboard, a trawl net for boats, and an oil press and a still for making fuel. The steel seats work on vehicles now; the rest come to life in later updates.
- NewAlso in creative mode: plant oil, biodiesel and ethanol bottles and cans for the oil press and still, and a large combustion engine for the steel frame.
- NewVehicles can now be crafted. The cow wagon, wooden boat and paddles are open from the start; scrap vehicles, boats and machines are unlocked by blueprints, steel and alloy ones by data drives found out in the world.
- NewThe oil press turns rapeseed or sunflowers into plant oil and then biodiesel, and the still turns sugar beet or corn into ethanol.
- NewCabin boats have a fuel tank spot in the wheelhouse beside the door: the fuel tank fits there and feeds combustion engines.
- NewThe cabin boat's gauges work: a fuel gauge for what its engines can burn, a throttle gauge that shows the speed you set straight away, and a compass that points north.
- NewEngines and fuel tanks tell you when something you put in won't run them, and what they run on.
- NewConsole commands poi.list and poi.tp list the world's places of interest (wrecks, freighters, rigs, ruins) by distance and direction, and take you there.
- NewBig things you can place (workbenches, beds, boats, even a whole cabin boat) are carried full size above your head in both hands.
- NewNew world type: Ocean, open sea in every direction over a flat seabed, with no land at all. You start out swimming.
- NewWorlds keep track of how long you have played them, shown next to the last played date in the world list.
- ChangedFrozen lakes look like real ice: you see the lake bed through clear ice, with milky patches, cracks, frozen bubbles, frost along the shore, sparkles in the sun, and bare wind-swept patches between the snow drifts.
- ChangedThe block placement preview has dark edges, so it stays visible against white surfaces like snow.
- ChangedBuildings and wrecks now hold at most one blueprint or data drive between all their containers.
- ChangedFrozen puddles get cracks and a frosty rim.
- ChangedGlass is clearer and catches the sky and the sun, gets a little smudged and dusty, and holds snow on top.
- ChangedArrows, bows, hoes, shovels and paddles have chunkier icons that are easier to make out, spear icons show a close-up of the spearhead, fishing rod icons show the line and bobber, and the nest icon shows its straw colours again.
- ChangedTrees have leaves and needles you can make out one by one instead of flat green shapes: oak, birch, maple and the fruit trees show single leaves, pines show needle tufts and firs show needle sprigs.
- ChangedApples, pears, plums and cherries look more like real fruit: smooth, round, with painted skins, both on the trees and in your hands.
- ChangedBuilding blocks are listed together before fences, doors and windows, and every block's name now ends in "Block" (Brick Block, Glass Block…).
- ChangedThe creative item picker and the wiki only list empty buckets, not every filled one.
- ChangedCreative mode: the item picker window is titled Creative instead of Crafting.
- ChangedFewer item tabs in crafting, the creative picker and the wiki: Farming is now under Food, and Furniture and Stations are under Building.
- ChangedRunning into an animal with a vehicle throws it ahead like a real hit, and the car shoves its body along instead of driving through it.
- ChangedDrifting: the handbrake now swings the tail out without stopping the car dead, and you get enough steering to catch the slide.
- ChangedVehicle cameras: the first-person view now rocks and tilts with whatever you ride, and the behind view follows turns, tilts and bumps smoothly and eases back behind the vehicle after you look around, pulling further back the faster you go.
- ChangedBicycles fly off ledges, ramps and cliffs instead of sticking to the ground, and land again with a bump. Land too hard and you're thrown off.
- ChangedVehicles, wheels and their parts are smooth shaded.
- ChangedWedges of any block are dragged along their slope like roofs, building a ramp in one go.
- ChangedBuilding: tap right-click to tilt a block (Shift + right-click goes back) and hold it to pick a shape from the menu. Alt + mouse wheel no longer rotates blocks.
- ChangedBuilding: aim near an edge of the face you build on to turn the block towards it (a wedge rises to that edge). Plates and panes lie flat when you aim at the middle and stand at the edge you aim near.
- ChangedBuilding: the Panel and Plate shapes are now one shape, Plate.
- ChangedVehicles drive up ramps and over edges the way they should: the wheels roll up onto an edge in front of them, and running into something tips the vehicle instead of lifting it level.
- ChangedTurning a vehicle back over rolls it onto its wheels instead of teleporting it.
- ChangedVehicles can roll over: take a bank or an edge too fast and they tip onto their side or roof, and they tip off ledges instead of balancing on them.
- ChangedCrashing into something at speed throws everyone out of the vehicle, and so does rolling it onto its side or roof.
- ChangedThe Alloy and Steel frames are bigger, so you fit in the seat and reach the wheel.
- ChangedVehicles are heavier with softer, longer suspension: they lean in turns and sway over bumps.
- ChangedSteering keeps its full lock while pulling away; it only gets lighter at speed.
- ChangedLooking at a vehicle shows how much of the burning fuel is left and how many more are in its engine and tanks.
- ChangedThe Steel frame looks finished: its mudguards are held on by struts, the floor plates are dark tread plate and the dash stands on the floor.
- ChangedData drives no longer stack: each one is a single item.
- ChangedItems are sorted the same way everywhere (inventory sorting, crafting windows, creative menu, guide and wiki): by category, then from early to late game, so a tier's spear, bow and bucket sit next to its axe and late-game items no longer lead the lists.
- ChangedCrafting tabs follow item categories (Tools, Clothing, Food, Farming, Materials, Building, Furniture, Stations, Vehicles, Other); weapons are listed with the tools.
- ChangedMods: items can set category and tier; recipes are listed under their item's category (a recipe's own category is no longer used).
- ChangedThe emote wheel moved from C to X.
- ChangedYour character is now the same in every world and follows your account to other PCs. Change it any time from Character in the main menu; New Game only asks you to make one if you haven't yet.
- ChangedIn a boat you paddle with the paddle in your hand; without it your hands are free, so passengers can fish, hold a torch or use tools. Torches and tools are put away while paddling or riding a bicycle.
- ChangedMeat Stew and Roast Dinner now fill you up almost completely.
- ChangedThe hammer only takes down blocks and building parts (doors, windows, fences, door signs). Workbenches, stations, furniture, chests and lights are picked up by holding Interact only, so a hammer swing can't knock them down by accident.
- ChangedPlayers standing in a boat move with it.
- ChangedPushing a boat puts both hands on its edge; tools can't be used while pushing.
- ChangedHosted games take up to 10 players (the free version up to 2). The free version's main menu shows the newest version patrons can play and links to Patreon.
- ChangedThe fishing wreck and the freighter are bigger, with room to walk along their decks and into their cabins.
- ChangedThe cabin boat's radar stands on a cabinet beside the wheel, where you can see it while driving.
- ChangedLooking at a radar zooms in only when you look at its screen from close by.
- ChangedThe camera pulls further back behind a cabin boat, and you can look all the way behind you from any seat.
- ChangedBoat engines keep running when you get up from the seat.
- ChangedBoats say Drive or Sit instead of Board, depending on the seat.
- ChangedBig things carried over your head no longer block your view in first person (their shadow still shows).
- ChangedScrap things have proper textures instead of flat colours: chipped, faded paint over rust, galvanised patches and dark rusty iron (doors, windows, furniture, tools, buckets, the bicycle, boats and vehicle parts), with new icons to match.
- ChangedPlacing objects and pasting builds now turn only with Alt + mouse wheel; R no longer rotates them (gamepads still use D-pad right).
- FixedDistant hills no longer visibly vanish at dusk before the night fog reaches them: the low sky behind them now takes the fog colour.
- FixedGrass grows right up to the walls of buildings out in the world instead of leaving a big bare circle around them.
- FixedGrass now also grows right up to the walls of ruins you can take apart, instead of leaving a bare ring around them.
- FixedDistant trees no longer flicker in winter.
- FixedRiding a vehicle no longer shows its own name at the top of the screen.
- FixedThe steel door's frame no longer flickers.
- FixedController: holding the right stick button with a block now keeps the shape menu open; point the right stick at a shape (or step with the D-pad) and let go to pick it.
- FixedWheels sit right against their hubs on every frame.
- FixedVehicles no longer jitter in the third-person views (F5).
- FixedTurning a vehicle back over next to a cliff or rock no longer puts it into the ground: it's set down in the nearest clear spot.
- FixedOnly players on exactly the same game version can play together: a snapshot can no longer join a release game, or the other way round.
- FixedThe message for a world saved by a newer version is short enough to read in full.
- FixedParts can be put on a vehicle standing on a road, and next to each other (a horn beside the headlamps, a fuel tank beside a seat).
- FixedA wheel put on a frame lying on the ground lifts the frame out instead of sitting in the ground.
- FixedThe Alloy Frame's tubes all join up.
- FixedVehicle frames no longer jitter on roads and block floors before their wheels are on.
- FixedSteel wheels are no longer see-through from the outside.
- FixedThe Alloy buggy's roll cage clears your head, and its steering column reaches the wheel; the Steel frame's steering wheel sits at chest height and its mudguards fit its wheels.
- FixedCattle stay hitched to the wagon after a save and load, and when you go away and come back.
- FixedVehicles keep their parts after a save and load, even if saved while driving or built before a part's place moved.
- FixedA vehicle far away from everyone no longer sinks into the ground before you come back.
- FixedWheels no longer hop up onto rocks and walls taller than half the wheel.
- FixedAlloy buggy: the seats and steering sit inside the roll cage, and the side panels sit on the frame.
- FixedIn multiplayer, lots of falling or loose building pieces moving at once no longer cause errors or stop showing up for other players.
- FixedYou can climb into a boat from the water: swim against its side and jump.
- FixedGetting out of a boat out on the water leaves you standing in the boat instead of dropping you into the water.
- FixedBoats no longer tip over, and a boat left on a beach stays there instead of sliding back into the water.
- FixedThe "Update available" popup shows when the game starts again, instead of closing right away.
- FixedCabin boats can't be placed on land.
- FixedJumping on a moving boat no longer leaves you behind it.
- FixedLooking anywhere on a radar's screen zooms in, not just its lower part.
- FixedCabin boat seats can't be sat in from outside the boat.
- FixedThe steering wheel no longer turns back and forth while you hold a turn, and it turns even without a rudder or engine.
- FixedThe roof scanner sits on the wheelhouse roof instead of floating above it.
- FixedThings put on the cabin boat's roof ride along with it.
- FixedCabin boat windows no longer flicker.
- FixedPlacing an engine, rudder or radar on a cabin boat no longer shows the tiller or antenna it won't have.
- FixedRefusal messages no longer all say to take the sign down first.
- FixedAiming a block at some spots no longer crashes the building preview and fills the log with errors.
- FixedIn multiplayer, other players now always see what you are about to build, even a big preview.
- FixedThe compass menu (C) now follows waypoints on moving things (boats, vehicles), so the distance no longer keeps climbing while you travel with them.
- FixedSmall items held in the hand (rocks, food and the like) sit on the fist instead of floating above and in front of it.
- FixedA drawn bow now points its arrow at the crosshair, where the shot actually goes.
- FixedBuckets are carried by their handle and swing as you move, like a lantern.
- RemovedThe Dark Wood Block: dye wood blocks brown instead.
